LCWA Standing Rules (Policies and Procedures)

  1. LCWA dues shall be $35.00 annually, payable by June 1st and delinquent by July 1st.  Only dues-paid members shall be listed in the LCWA Yearbook.

  2. Although not a charitable organization, the LCWA may make donations to worthy causes at the discretion of the General Board.

  3. Luncheon or tour money can only be refunded if the reservation is canceled on the Wednesday before the meeting date.

  4. Members are asked to notify

    • The Corresponding Secretary in cases of members illness, bereavement, or other exigencies so the LCWA may respond accordingly.

    • The Membership Chairwoman of any changes of address or telephone number.

  5. Guests of LCWA members are welcome at the Club’s monthly meetings, but cannot attend regularly unless they become dues-paying members.

  6. Job Descriptions are provided for Elected Officials,   appointed Standing Committee Chairwomen and Interest Group Chairwomen.

  7. Elected Officers, Appointed Chairwomen, and Interest Group Chairwomen, except for special circumstances, shall serve no more than two years in succession in any one office.

  8. The incoming President and her Executive Board may discreetly plan for the coming term prior to their election.

  9. Interest Groups

    1. Proposal for a new Interest Group will be put in writing and given to the President. The President will present the proposal to the Board for consideration. The Board will discuss and either approve or disapprove the proposal for the new group. If approved by the Board the new Interest Group can then proceed with formation of the group.

    2. Interest Group Chairwomen are required to provide membership with a list of their members  and a list of programs, if programs are a part of the Group’s Agenda.

    3. Interest Group Chairwomen shall lead their group in selecting their successor.

  10. The Parliamentarian conducts the Installation of the newly elected Officers at the May meeting.

  11. The Treasurer’s books shall be audited by a competent authority at the end of each club year, which is June 1st to May 31st.

  12. Because we respect our members’ privacy, our list of membership shall not be given out at any time to other persons, clubs or organizations.

  13. a. The commercial aspect of any speaker–i.e.books, cassettes, etc. shall be confined to an absolute minimum at the time of their presentation.  Club meetings shall not be used as a forum for selling products.

  14. Since we often get requests for solicitations at our  meetings, the LCWA Board has established the following guidelines:

    1. a. No business solicitations by members at LCWA meetings.

    2. b. Charitable solicitations by members only will be considered if the request is presented to the First Vice President at least one week prior to the meeting.

    3. c. If the request is granted, solicitation may occur at a table apart from LCWA activities, and only people approaching the table and expressing an interest, may be solicited.

  15. The outgoing President plans the Old Board-New Board luncheon following the May Installation Meeting.  She is assisted by the incoming President.  LCWA will pay the total cost of this luncheon.  

  16. Models in club fashion shows are expected to pay for luncheon reservations, as are other club members who attend.

  17. If a member’s check is returned by the bank, she is responsible for the bank fees assessed to LCWA.

  18. The Membership Chairwoman is to submit membership dues checks to the Treasurer no more than one week after receipt.

  19. In the event of the death of a LCWA member, or a Member’s spouse or child, the LCWA will send an appropriate card or note and a $50 memorial to a charity of the family’s choice. If no charity is designated by the family, the memorial will be sent to Irving Cares.  For any other bereavement in a member’s family, an appropriate card or note of sympathy will be sent.
